LP #2 (unmastered "Odelay" promo)

~ Release by Beck (see all versions of this release, 32 available)

Annotation

Promotional version of "Odelay" with many (mostly minor) differences from the final DGC CD release. In a standard jewel case with opaque black tray & printed inserts.

*Not final titles*
*Not mastered*
*Not final mixes*
*Not final sequence*

Key differences include (but aren't limited to):
• Placeholder "LP #2" title.
• "Hotwax" is titled "Hot Wax."
• "Lord Only Knows" is titled "Odelay."
• "The New Pollution" is titled "New Pollution."
• The song "Novacane" is spelled "Novacaine." Neither spelling is correct; the name-brand oral numbing agent is "Novocain." This version of the track has a notably different mix than the final commercial release.
• "Jack-Ass" is titled "Millius" after Mike Millius, a 60s folk rocker whose scream is sampled by Beck at the opening of the "Lord Only Knows" (or as its known on this release, "Odelay").
• "Sissyneck" is titled "Sissy Neck" and contains many uncleared samples removed from the final album, including distinct speech from a talking Barbie toy.
• "Readymade" is titled "Ready Made."
• "Ramshackle" is titled "Marty Robbins" after the Glendale, AZ country artist of "Big Iron," NASCAR & acting fame.
• "Derelict" is 4:11 in duration rather than the final 3:18.
